13 Days Kenya and Tanzania combined Scenic safari

At the start of your Kenya and Tanzania scenic safari you will be picked up from Best Western Meridian Hotel 0730 hrs and drive via the scenic Great Rift Valley, to Masai Mara Reserve. Stop over at the Great Rift Valley view point to view the stunning landscape. You will also stop over at Narok town to stretch your legs and a bathroom break. continue to Masai Mara arriving in good time for lunch. at 1600 hrs embark on afternoon game drive in Kenya's most famous reserve. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar.

We will spend 2 days exploring the Masai Mara, with its abundance of large mammals and diverse birdlife. We have the option to either have full and complete days out in the field when lunch can be served out on the savannah or we can return to camp for lunch.

Big cats are a very prominent feature of the Masai Mara and also include Cheetahs and Leopards, both of which are fairly straightforward to find here. We are definitely at ‘Predator Central’ here and there can be few

if any wildlife spectacles anywhere in the world that can rival the tension, drama, and emotion of a Mara crossing. As many as a million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra attempt this epic journey each year. Watching as thousands of wildebeest and zebra gather at a crossing point you can almost feel the pressure build on the animals at the front as they consider the right time to attempt to cross the dangerous waters of the crocodile-infested Mara River. It is, however, a time of plenty for the gigantic Nile Crocodiles that live in the river and lie in wait as hundreds of thousands of animals head north from the Serengeti Plains to feed on the lush Mara grasslands. The foaming waters, noise, and drama of a Mara crossing has to be experienced to be believed and offers dramatic action photo opportunities. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar

On day 5 of our Kenya Tanzania scenic safari we will have breakfast then exit the park and drive to Naivasha -visit to hells gate national park- this park can be explored on foot or by cycling- bicycles are available for hire at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. Hells gate national park is characterized by diverse topography and geological scenery. It has historically been an important home for the rare lammergeyer, but it is now thought that the famous pair of birds may not have nested in the park for several years. One is encouraged to hike and cycle in the park. This is a rarity in Kenyan National Parks, and is only made possible due to the lack of large predators such as lions and cheetahs

Our Kenya Tanzania combined safari continues to Amboseli National reserve at the foot of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. picnic lunch en route then proceed for afternoon game drives at the scenic park at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Safari camp

Today you will spend a scenic full day in Amboseli with early morning and evening game drives. Whilst in the park, you will have the opportunity to photograph the animals against the wonderful backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. All meals and overnight will be at Kibo Safari camp

The Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,896m) whose snow-capped summit presents a splendid view on clear days. Amboseli National Park is often referred to as “The home of Elephants’ some of the largest Elephant herds are found here. The Game Park also contains vast groups of Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Buffalos, Hippos and Antelopes. Also to be found in Amboseli are lions, leopards, Cheetahs, and many species of plain game.

Our Kenya Tanzania scenic safari proceeds to Tanzania via the Namanga border. We also pass through Arusha for lunch and proceed to Lake Manyara National park. Regardless of the direction we approach Manyara from, the view is always fantastic.

Lake Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake that is part of the Rift Valley wall; the lake is at the base of this dramatic western escarpment giving it a beautiful and serene setting. In addition to this peaceful setting, Lake Manyara’s main attractions are its rich bird life, tree climbing lions and its hippos, which you can see at a closer range than many other places. Lake Manyara also hosts thousands of flamingos at certain times of the year and has diverse vegetation ranging from savannah, to marshes and acacia woodland, enabling a variety of wildlife habitats including butterflies.

After breakfast, your Kenya and Tanzania combined safari travels to Serengeti national park with picnic lunches. Game is viewed as we proceed to Serengeti Katikati Camp for overnight stay

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the big 5. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered. Dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti Katikati Camp

Serengeti is Africa’s most famous and Tanzania’s largest park covering 14,736 sq km and is adjoining with the Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya. With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grants gazelle, Eland, Kirk’s roan, buffalo, giraffe, and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat-eared foxes. Elephants are relatively scarce and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to the Moru Koppies area.

Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and kori bastard being common, a variety of larks, finches, and raptors can be seen but the most distinctive small bird is the lilac-breasted roller.

Breakfast then head south to Ngorongoro crater. Descend into the crater for a full day crater tour with packed lunches. Ascend the crater rim for dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge

The Ngorongoro Crater is often called ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World,’ a visit to the crater is the main draw card for tourists coming to Tanzania and a definite world-class attraction. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is the home to Ngorongoro Crater. It was formed some 2.5 million years ago from a volcanic mountain sinking due to inactivity and was initially thought to be higher than Tanzania’s famous Kilimanjaro. The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania’s eco-system. The crater is actually a caldera, measures 22.5 km’s across and the rim walls stand 600m high. Views from within and from the rim are breathtaking (as can be seen from the picture). The crater houses 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds, which rarely move from the area due to the availability of water through wet and dry seasons.

After breakfast, game drive enroute for Tarangire National Park. In the afternoon you'll be taken on a game drive through this scenic park. Many of the animals congregate around the only source of permanent water in the park, the Tarangire River. This is the best place in Tanzania to see really big herds of elephants of up to 300 at a time on safari. Dinner and overnight at Burunge tented Lodge
