Marangu Route is the most popular, least difficult and the shortest way to Uhuru Peak. This route is also called the Tourist Route or the Coca Cola Route. 70% of all climbers choose this route. This is because most of the route consists of easy hiking. This route is fairly easy but the final part to the summit is still difficult. Although this route is the easiest, it has the highest failure rate due to bad preparation. It is advised to take this route seriously enough, to be well organized and to take all possible safety measures.
All the camps on this route sell goods such as chocolates, beer, soft drinks and mineral water. Besides, they all have a radio contact to the Park Office. This route can be done in 5 days but it is advised to take an extra day for acclimatization at the Horombo hut. Horombo hut is also the only campsite on Kilimanjaro with beds and mattresses.
Mount Kilimanjaro Routes
Machame Route :Considered to be the most beautiful and scenic of the various routes up Mount Kilimanjaro. Machame Route is appropriate for more adventurous hikers who wish for a more physically demanding climb than Marangu or Rongai can offer. You can choose to complete this route in either six days or seven days.
Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Rongai Route is the only route on the north-eastern part of the mountain. This route is gaining in popularity, because it is the second easiest after Marangu and it has amazing wilderness conditions. The Rongai Route is recommended for climbers who want to avoid the huge numbers of climbers on other routes. This route can be started from the Tanzanian or the Kenyan side of the mountain and can be achieved in 6 days. The Rongai Route is only used to climb up the mountain and at the final stage it joins up with the Marangu Route. Marangu is also the ascending route. This route has lots of caves, which are partly also used as overnight accommodations.

Mount Kilimanjaro climb The Umbwe route is one of the shortest routes to the Southern Glaciers and the Western Breach. It is probably the most scenic, non technical route on Kilimanjaro. It is quite taxing, primarily due to the relatively fast ascent to higher altitude. However, the rewards are plentiful.
Mt. Kilimanjaro can be climbed any time of the year but there are two rainy seasons i.e late March to mid June and November. The best months are December, January to March and July to October usually dry and minimum clouds.
Physical Conditioning to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro Hiking Tours
Kilimanjaro, at 19,340 ft. is an extreme, high altitude climb and is perhaps the most underestimated of the seven summits. You should be comfortable walking four to eight hours per day. Summit day is the most demanding portion of the climb. It typically involves eight hours for the ascent and six to seven hours for the descent. Our expeditions require strength and endurance. Being in sound physical condition is the single most important aspect for climbers to maximize their climbing potential.
The better your physical condition, the more likely you are to perform well and have an enjoyable experience. The most frequent comment we have received over the years is that climbers have underestimated the fitness level needed to fully enjoy their trip. Additionally, inadequate fitness will affect the atmosphere, pace and overall enjoyment of the climb for all participants. We highly recommend checking with your physician before undertaking any strenuous activity.
